I spray painted my shoes and the paint came off instantly, what can I do?

should I sand the shoes first? I used them and they got wet and the paint started to come off, maybe it was the snow that got them wet?

Did the shoes have a shiny, glossy finish first? Are they leather? Did you use paint made for leather, such as from a shoe repair store?

Yes, maybe you should rough them up and repaint them. Call a shoe repair or check out some sort of polish to use once the paint is dry. I think there may be some sort of protective finish you can use for leather.

Good luck. Oh, and yeah, wait awhile to go into wet weather! :-)
Reply:Just an idea: depending on the type of shoes, you could cover them with some sort of paper-backed tape first (like some mailing/packing tapes - anything where the non-sticky side has a non-slick, papery texture) and then spray paint. Paper takes paint quite easily. There would be faint lines on your shoes because of the tape's edges, of course, but depending on the occasion, you may or may not care about this.
Reply:I have a great idea...get new shoes!!
Reply:Scuff em up a little then spray em w/ a primer. Then paint w/ whateva color. Lastly, spray em with a good water proof clear coat.
