What regular shoes can I use for cheerleading?

I am trying out for a college cheer squad (its a small school.. most people make it) and I have no cheer expirienc, but dance and gymnastics expirience. I was wondering where can i get cheap shoes for tryouts (because if i make it i will need to buy team shoes)

and are there any regular shoes that might work as well (i own alot of tennis shoes)

and what makes cheer shoes better?

What regular shoes can I use for cheerleading?
any shoe will be fine for tryouts. Cheer shoes are specific because there is a groove on the bottom of the heel used when lifting people. The groove allows the bases (people on bottom) to get the best grip on a flyer's foot. For tryouts though you want something that isn't bulky in case they ask you to do some fly work. Basically make sure they fit really well and you'll be fine
Reply:Tennis shoes will work out fine. As long as your comfortable when you move around.
Reply:Get a good walker/jogger shoe. You want a lot of support on the ball of your foot and the heel.

Do you know any games involving shoes?

I am teaching a game class and one day I am using the theme Shoes. I havre 2 games one i do need a thrid game involving shoes. For example, one game is Magic shoes. (there are 2 teams each with a pair of shoes. You need to get you team to the other side of the gym but only the person wearing the magic shoes can touch the floor. you can only walk once).

Help i need some good ideas

Do you know any games involving shoes?
When I was teaching preschool we used a game with shoes. All of the children too off their shows and then set them at the end of the line somewhere. Then they went to the start and raced to their shoes and run back. If the children can tie, you can have them put the shoes on. Another thing we did was to mix up the shoes a little, then the children had to run and find them, put them on, and dash back.

Another thing you can do is to print out shoes on card stock then laminate them *clear contact paper works just as good if you don't have access to lamination*. You can always tape the paper shoes to the floor and make a walk way of colors, or make it a match up game. There are many things you can do with them.

Walking / Running Shoes for overweight overpronator (Flat Feet)?

Hi

I am 5'10" and I weight 110 KG. I have flat feet and I am looking for shoes to walk or run. When I use normal training shoes i get severe pain in my shins, specially right one. Any one who can guide me to a good pair of shoes?

TIA,

Walking / Running Shoes for overweight overpronator (Flat Feet)?
You need motion control + shoes. You should check out the following shoes to see which work best for you:

Brooks - Beast 9

Asics Gel - Evolution 2 or 3

New Balance - 1010

New Balance - 1122

Saucony - Progrid Stabil

Etonic - Minado

Mizuno - Wave Renegade

Check out a running shoe store to help you find what works best. http://www.roadrunnersports.com

As for ths shin splints, you're going to have to start slow by running a little and walking alittle to build up the muscles in the lower leg to strengthen them. Gradually run more and walk less. After running ice the area of your leg that is sore and take an ibuprofen if neccessary to reduce swelling. The next time you run stretch well beforehand. Eventually the problem will go away. Good Luck
Reply:It may not be your shoes at all, or it could be not the right ones. New Balance has a great lineup of shoes for all sizes and widths, as do many other shoe makers.

What I'd like you to do is get rid of the shin pain. Shin splints are the result of muscle imbalance where the back of the leg is stronger than the front muscles. To correct this imbalance, lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Slowly pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Hold for 1 or 2 seconds, then repeat. Try to work up to 2 or 3 sets of 10.

As an alternative, I suggest the toe lift: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,71...

Good Luck
Reply:I like Runners Edge answer. I use roadrunnersports.com to research shoes before I actually go out and buy. It sounds like you need motion control + shoes. Search that catagory. The motion control shoes give you better stability and help guide your foot to go against your natural overpronation. And the + is for larger runners. Most of the shoes have lots of reveiws which can help give you a good idea as to whether the shoe might work for you or not. And if you find the motion control shoes to be a bit too stiff, you can also try the Stability + shoes with a good insert, such as the Performance green superfeet found here:

http://www.amazon.com/Superfeet-Green-Pe...

Also, here is some really good information about shin splints and how to prevent them. It takes time, but with patience, the right shoes, and proper stretching and strength training you can get rid of your shin splints:

http://www.watfxc.com/TF/TF%20Education/...
Reply:If it IS shin pain and not your shoes, snvffy has the perfect exercise for that pain. Just try that one out for a week or so and see if that helps.

I tried her advice a couple weeks ago and it has been an amazing difference for me for the shin pain/stress.
Reply:It all depends on what feels comfortable to you. You'll definately need Stabilty shoes or more and there are a lot out there.

You'll need to just try them all.

Most popular shoes for runners that overpronate are...

Brooks Adrenaline

Saucony Grid Omni

Pointe shoes..?

okay so im taking my senior pictures this summer, and i wanted to take a dance picture, and i was wondering if i should buy pointe shoes for the pictures. i will use the pointe shoes again because i plan on going on pointe when im ready, but can i just wear them to the shoot? ill be holding onto something so i wont fall, but i just wanted to know if its bad for your feet if you arent ready to wear pointe shoes yet.

Pointe shoes..?
Yes you can, just make sure you don't hurt yourself. And make sure you break them in. It shouldn't be a problem for you. I can personally say that I went up on pointe before I was ready and I did ok. You'll be fine. And remember have fun. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!!!

P.S.

Grishko pointe shoes (I find) that they work bettter for begginers on pointe
Reply:I'm a very young pointe dancer ( 10 years old ) and my advice is to not do it because you could seriously injure yourself.Ask your dance instructor what they think about it. Report It

Reply:it sounds like you are taking classes, so i would consult with your teacher, some dancers who arent on pointe are stronger than others, no matter what do what your teacher says. Also, if you end up buying the shoes make sure they are fitted properly if u intend to use them for class. Also for the shoot, make sure you have taped your feet and warmed up your feet to prevent injury.
Reply:I'm going to assume you are a dancer and have been taking some ballet. You could wear the pointe shoes, make sure you get fitted and buy padding too.

Some poses to consider without going on pointe are b-plus, a sit like swan lake pose, tendu back with arms in fourth. Maybe you can put your leg on the barre for a stretch.

Good Luck!!
Reply:i would ask your dance teacher if it is safe for you to do it and if your ankles are pretty strong enough to go on for a little bit.
Reply:well i guess it would be okay... as long as you just wear them for the picture and get a professional fitting. Do NOT try staying up on point for a long time and just pack them away after the photo. You willl need ribbion and elastic and don't forget cushioins for your toes (yes it will hurt even for a few seconds).
Reply:well, point shoes cost 100$ a lot of the time so it might be kinda exspensive just for a picture. I don't think it would ruin your feet just for a couple seconds.
Reply:depending on how old you are and how much ballet you have been taking is what decides if you should wear them or not. Ive been doing ballet since i was 7 and i find the best ones are ones that cant be broken in easily, also get gel padding not just the cloth stuff, buy lambs wool, and dance tape. If you dont know what any of that stuff is you should definatly not wear them. I would reccomend not wearing them in the photo because its kinda like being a poser, because you aren't at that level of dance yet. Hope the picture turns out good...oh and if you have just started dance, if you actually go to a professional school then you probably shouldnt go on point for like 3-5 years. when i was 13 i started, so about that many years.
Reply:Hiya

I do pointe, and this should be fine. As your holding on to something youll be able to balance, just try not to do any amazing pirrouette-style moves !! Its not bad for your feet, and theyll get used to wearing them.

Good luck hun xx
Reply:if youre sure youll use them, talk with your teacher and make sure you get the right fit. because you havent danced on pointe make sure youre only posing with them, and have them fitted with the type of pad youll be using...and for the love of god, why would you use used pointe shoes?!?! no reputable store would ever resell them. the true shelf life of pointe shoes is only a few hours, so anything used is already broken in, and not suited for your feet.
Reply:they are not comfy street shoes, but you can buy used pointes at any capezio danskin or sancha for $20 or less

depending on the type of feet you have its ok to pose but no jumps or crazy stuff they hurt like hell and scratch up your skin.

prolonged use may cause big toe overgrowth by bunions blisters or other damage have fun!
Reply:You can, but be careful.... its easy to roll your ankles if you're not strong enough. Make sure your weight is on your big toe, not your pinkie toe! And don't count on being able to wear the point shoes again in a couple years....they need to fit exactly right, and your feet may change. Have fun taking your senior pics!
Reply:No. If you've never been on pointe before don't do it. Your ankles aren't strong enough and there is a possibility of spraining or breaking your ankle, even if you're holding on to something. There is also a possibility that since your feet aren't ready they will teach their muscles to form to the shoe. That isn't good. You want your shoes to form to your muscles, otherwise when you get on pointe you will still have a high possibility of breaking your ankle. The only thing you could really do with pointe shoes is use them at a prop. Good luck with the photo!!!!
Reply:ya. go ahead and take the picture with them on. you just have to really careful on them. make sure you wear gel pads in them. The picture will look best if you tie them right. Just be CAREFUL! If you need a picture of pointe shoes or need to buy some go to www.discountdance.com .
Reply:If Rihanna can wear them on the Umbrella video clip, you can certainly wear them. Nothing will happen to your feet. You only get blisters if you dance.

Climbing shoes?

I am going climbing for the first time using actual climbing shoes. I have heard some mixed advice and was wondering what you all thought.

sock or no socks with climbing shoes?

Climbing shoes?
It really depends on where you are climbing and how long you are going to be wearing the shoes.

If you are just doing some indoor climbing or some short sport routes, I would say "no socks". This is the best place to break in the shoes, and wearing no socks will help heat up the shoes so they really mold and fit your feet.

Also, it depends on how hard the route is - very hard routes will be harder if you wear socks. An easier route won't be much problem is you wear socks and may be more comfortable if it is very long.

If you are doing a full day multi-pitch climb outside, I would break in your shoes (as above) first and then I would consider a VERY THIN sock. Most climbing shoes don't cover the ankle - abrasions, cold, sun burn, etc can be a problem that can be cured by a very thin sock. I actually use the same shoes, loosen the laces up a little and use a very thin "liner" sock and it works very nicely for long routes.

Good Luck
Reply:You have to take into consideration a couple of things. If your just getting into the sport then i would suggest wearing NO socks. The shoe should be VERY snug and when you climb the shoe will actually form to your foot. A sock can hinder the forming of the shoe. I have to situations in witch i use socks when climbing one is when its very cold i will wear a pair of socks to keep warm, but the shoes that i use for cold days with socks are just for that nothing else. when i have a full day of hard scrambling with some mixed climbs in between i will use a slightly over sized pair of shoes with socks so that i can comfortable climb and hike when i need to.

so for everyday shoes that you climb i would very much recommend NOT using socks. and in the future when you buy shoes try them on without socks to get a better fit
Reply:Definitely NO socks! Climbing shoes work best when they hold tight to your foot. A sock will add a slippery layer between the shoe and your skin, allowing the shoe to move when it should be holding. Shoes should fit tight to your bare feet. Your heel should be locked securely and your toes should be touching the front of the shoe. Some climbers say that the shoes should be so tight that they hurt to wear. I suggest you buy shoes that are very snug and avoid the pain until your level of climbing reaches a higher point. Having said all of this, I have worn socks inside my climbing shoes when climbing in sub zero temperatures.

Why don't my shoes fit anymore? Have my feet shrunken?

I have a pair of shoes that I used to wear a lot (that fit me) and now they don't fit... in fact, they're too big.

What's wrong? This happens with me a lot. 0_o;;

And I am happy that my feet have somehow gotten smaller, but now I have a lot of shoes that are too big for me. :(

Why don't my shoes fit anymore? Have my feet shrunken?
Could be one of two reasons.

Maybe your feet were swollen when you wore them before..sometimes feet swell later in the day.

OR

Maybe you lost weight...when you lose weight so do your feet.
Reply:If you lost weight that would explain a lot. Or if you were retaining water, then got the fluid off of you that might explain it.
Reply:You stretched the shoes out.

Are Adidas shoes good for skating.?

I've been skating boarding about a year now and have been using Adidas street shoes. Are there any advantages from using real skate shoes.

Are Adidas shoes good for skating.?
If you buy a skate shoe, you want to get a leather or suede shoe. Plus, you want good grip on the bottom of the shoe. Some shoes that I've had that last a long time are circas, osiris, globes, fallens, supras, and lakais. But if you've got about $90 you could get Nike SB Zoom air tre's which are "supposedly" indestructible. Grip on a shoe is really important if you want to stick to your board. Some skate shoes say fusion grip which is really good. You also want a light skate shoe that lets you handle the board well.
Reply:well i have been skating for a half a year and adias (no effense) stink! i like adio's or fallen's. and skate shoes last 3times longer than non-skate shoes
Reply:Adidas are running shoes! Definitely not skating shoes.

I'd have to say DC, Adios, and Vans are the best.

If you like adidas thats fine, but, Vans, and all those kind of shoes are designed for skating, because they're flat.

This question is about shoes.?

sometimes i wear running/walking shoes without socks and it feels soooo good. other times it doesnt feel good and im glad i have a sock. but i only have one pair of shoes and im wondering if wearing without socks is a bad idea? does anyone else wear them without socks and why? also, i dropped my shoes in the creek and sometimes they are soaked from wet grass. being barefoot in my shoe could create problems and there could be germs. would you suggest lysol, or.. what other form of cheap simple stuff would u use inside your shoe to temporarily kill germs, or do u think its not necessary - maybe a washer machine wash now n then?

This question is about shoes.?
First of all, I suggest buying more pairs of socks. Having just 1, just doesnt cut it.

Second, wearing runners without socks in them is highly unadvisable. Not only could they harbor germs, but it will quickly wear out the sole of the shoes, with all of the sweat that you lose through your feet. Socks absorb the sweat and add extra cushion to the sole of the shoe, causing extra comfort.

If you prefer to live life without socks, try to wear sandals as often as possible.

If you do need to wash your shoes, then in the washing machine is the easiest. They can be left to airdry, or be thrown in the dryer..
Reply:I've put my running/walking shoes in the washer and dryer a few times. If there are insoles, you should remove them first and wash them separately. You can put them in the dryer with towels and then put them in the sun if they didn't totally dry. Don't wear them wet, they'll just get smelly and wet shoes rubbing on your heal may cause a blister.

I also have worn them both with and without socks. If you have a choice, you should wear socks though, without socks you can develop blisters, callouses and your shoes will get stinky faster - your socks absorb the sweat from your feet.

Experts say we should have at least two pairs and switch them every day so they air out and bacteria doesn't grow in them.
Reply:Use Odor Eaters or another brand of foot powder. Make sure you have good insoles in the shoes also. You shouldn't have any real problems walking sockless though except for an occasional blister/caliss if you walk a lot.

Best shoes for volleyball in the sand?

I have been playing volleyball in the sand once a week. Playing barefoot has really done a number on my ankles, and I have been getting regular cuts from small rocks in the sand. I don't want to use my running shoes, as they get loaded with sand from the gameplay. Other than running shoes, what are the best shoes for playing volleyball on the sand?

Best shoes for volleyball in the sand?
There is a product called "sand socks" that help you.

You haven't mentioned how old you are or how long you have been playing. If you are serious about playing beach volleyball, then you need to keep playing the way you are. Your feet will develop callouses that will prevent small rocks from even bothering you and your ankles will also become stronger over time. (This is a positive for training in sand actually.) If the sand you are playing in is littered with twigs and larger rocks then you need to find a new place to play, or carry a lawn rake in your car.

If you are only a casual player and only plan to play beach once a week and not get too involved in the game, then you can try the sand socks. They will protect your feet enough to avoid small cuts. However, it will not help your ankles.

You DON"T wear shoes in sand, it's like wearing ankle weights and will hurt your progress. Not to mention, ruin your shoes in a matter of days.

Sand socks may be dorky looking, but they are comfortable and protect your skin. I believe there are also versions that allow UV light in, so you don't have those annoying sock tan lines.
Reply:If at all possible no shoes at all that way its easier to move around in the sand! Good Luck!
Reply:No shoes could be better than your running shoes (if you play serious volleyball), and nothing works better than bare-foot in the sand.

You might want to consider looking around for a better sand court (with better quality of sand), or switching your sand-court game to a grass court. We had about 19 players 8-10 years ago playing on a company's onsite sand court (good quality sand!!), but still decided to get $30 from each player and purchased a Park and Sun package, and some balls. You may get a cheaper one from the USYVL on the last day of any season, just talk to the site director. It makes you feel so mobile that you can play in any park without worrying too much about the sand quality.
Reply:U should wear flip-flops or strap sandals.......
Reply:The best shoes for sand volleyball, is the imaginary ones.

Don't wear any. It's a huge work out for your calves and it prevents you from moving faster if you wear them.

If the sand is hot, wear socks.
Reply:i haved played volleyball befor in the sand and i wore my tennie shoes i mean you might not want to but that is want i wore
Reply:How long have you been playing? If it hasn't been long yet, I'd say keep playing and it'll toughen your muscles and toughen the soles of your feet... go barefoot around the house and yard a bit more. I wouldn't wear shoes in the sand, that'd be even harder on your ankles, especially in the loose sand; while many people think sport shoes provide ankle support, see source for an article that shows they can *increase* the risk of ankle sprains because the shoe sole increases the lever arm. If you really want to wear something to protect your soles, try a soft-soled shoe like the vibram fivefingers or pocketslippers. They are light and allow for most of your foot to flex naturally, which you'll need in the sand.
Reply:just flip flops or sandals

My golf shoes are worn out, how can i make them look new again?

My freind gave me a pair of golf shoes that he used to drag his feet out of the golf cart with. Theyre in perfect condition except the toe is scraped up to look a lighter shade of brown than the rest of the shoe. What can i put on it to get it darker?

My golf shoes are worn out, how can i make them look new again?
you cant make them look new. but you can bye new golf shoes.
Reply:Buy a new pair!

I dont care if your the most stubborn of golf players, and youve been playing for years. Playing with old worn out shoes can hurt your game. You cant make worn out shoes look better. I mean there are ways, but its not worth it. The dirt has soaked in to the material im sure. And the tears and weaks areas wont be getting any better. so Buy new ones.
Reply:dip it in mud, use a marker then scrub it off so it leaves a tine of brown, or you could just bleach the shoes so they're all nice and white.

New athletic shoes and knee pain?

I have recently purchased a high-end pair of sneakers which have the built -in foot support system, because I work out a lot..

I have never had a knee problem, but since using these new shoes I've developed pain in my right knee after using the treadmill. The strange thing is: these shoes are super-comfortable on my feet. Has anyone ever experienced this before with new shoes?

New athletic shoes and knee pain?
Often times knee pain can come from what is going on with your feet. This is especially true if you have pronated (flat) feet. If you do then you would require an athletic shoe that has a built up arch support on the inside portion of the shoe to support your medial (inside) arch. I would recommend that you find a running store in your area that has more knowledgeable staff than you would find at a Footlocker, etc. They would be able to assess your feet and fit you with the proper athletic shoe.
Reply:It could be the shoes. Did you get them at a regular shoe store that fits you for shoes and measures your feet etc? If you did I would go back to them and talk to them about this as they may not have sold you the right type of shoe for the activity you are doing. If you didn't buy them at a regular shoe store then there is nothing you can do but stop wearing these shoes and GO TO A REGULAR shoe store and get fitted for the right type of shoe.
Reply:These shoes do not fit you properly; go to a running shoe store with trained fitters.

Tennis shoes can be used for running, volleyball, baseball, and many other sports. But why are sneakers generally called as tennis shoes? Is there a reason it had to be tennis? Just curious.

Why are tennis shoes called tennis shoes?
They were originally the shoes one wore when playing tennis. There weren't always all the high tech designs that are out today.
Reply:tennis shoes cannot be used for baseball or football. Sneakers are not called tennis shoes. Tennis shoes have their seperate entity. Just like basketball shoes volley ball shoes and so forth.

You can ask why are basketball shoes called baseketball shoes if they can be used for tennis, running, volleybay, and golf. They all have shoes for specific sports.
Reply:Everybody used to wear leather shoes and then vinyl shoes and then leather shoes again. Somewhere way- back- when, tennis was not fun to play in leather shoes, so they invented shoes made of canvas with rubber soles.
Reply:I know what you mean by all the different names for casual shoes worn when playing sports. It is confusing isn't it?

I think that the game of tennis was invented by a man named the same and he was the first one to have a tennis shoe made and it kind of went from that point.

Now we have too many high dollar tenny runners in my opinion and when they cost over 300 dollars a pair I would prefer we refer to them as my good shoes, period.
Reply:because they were first invented by sir alfred tennis.

The game was also named after him.

Boxing Shoes and Running!!?

Can I not only use my boxing shoes for training in boxing but, also use my boxing shoes to run my 45 minutes on the treadmill at the gym or, are my boxing shoes only for training in boxing???

Boxing Shoes and Running!!?
do not run in your boxing shoes! they will stretch in ways you don't need them to. when it's time to fight they will be to loose.you will make a move with your foot and you shoe will still be in the same spot.get a pair of running shoes it will only take 2mins. to change from one to another.
Reply:i suggest you purchase your boxing shoes from either adidas, title, or everlast. Jordan also produces a good pair that i use but are much more expensive that the other brands. In the means of running shoes i suggest you get cross training shoes instead of running. Report It

Clarks Shoes for Kids?

Does anyone remember those shoes that Clarks used to make for little girls? Underneth the heel there was a secret key or something and included with the purchase of the shoes, there was a plastic gold colored key pin. I'm wondering if they still make them or where I could buy a pair of old ones from.

Clarks Shoes for Kids?
no i doubt they sell them anymore however Clark's are doing a new children's range where underneath the sole there is a toy a doll for the girls and car for the boys. They seem cute and were most probably developed from the original idea.

I ordered shoes online using US Postal Service Priority Mail® Service it was suppose to come in 2-3 days from

inglewood, CA to Houston, TX i paid for it monday afternoon and its thurday afternoon and still nothing should i wait more or call and see whats up with my package?

I ordered shoes online using US Postal Service Priority Mail® Service it was suppose to come in 2-3 days from
First off ask the seller if they've even shipped the item yet. And just because something is shipped by Priority Mail doesn't mean that it automatically has delivery confirmation with it, but they may have. If they have shipped it and it has delivery confirmation, then contact the PO and see what they say about the item. The PO can look up more info than the ordinary person can using the USPS website. Good luck.
Reply:YOU SHOULD HAVE A TRACKING NUMBER. IF NOT WAIT. USPS IS SLOW JUST WAIT AND SEE FOR A DAY OR 2. I WOULD GO TO THE POST OFFICE AND ASK THEM IF YOU HAVE A PACKAGE CAUSE SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO PICK IT UP FOR THE POST OFFICE.
Reply:What did the shipper tell you?

Comfortable vegan shoes?

I am a vegetarian, not vegan, but I haven't worn leather for many years. I have VERY high arches and have trouble finding shoes that fit comfortably. I always look for "All man made materials" when I'm buying shoes, and this really limits what I can buy. Most of the time this kind of shoe cuts off the circulation in the top of my foot (and up my leg) because my arches are so high. I've tried the Earth vegan shoes, but for some reason they REALLY hurt my knees. I've tried using inserts in shoes, but they cut off the circulation in my feet, too. I usually end up wearing flip flops if any shoes. I'm teaching now, and stand for hours at a time. Should I give up on man made material shoes that have no give in them? I hate to wear leather. Is there anything else I can try, or am I going to have to go against what I believe is right in order for my feet, knees and back to stop hurting? I appreciate any help you can give me.

Comfortable vegan shoes?
I know exactly what you mean. The manufacturers of shoes in recent years have stopped making what used to be called a Combination Last Shoe for women. That translates to ill fitting shoes, pain and poor posture. It also means that we have no protection in winter and the snow and icey slush just enters our shoes through their open to the elements backs! The only recourse we have is sandals when we are indoors, which doesn't work in snowy climates. But for comfort at school try TIVAS. REI carries them and they at least will give you some support..
Reply:Wondering if you have tried going to a foot doctor to see if they could custom make something for you to place within your shoes for your high arches.

I had foot problems as well - and a visit to the doctor had him make me some inserts to place within my shoes that give me the support that I need with any shoe that I wear - except open backed shoes/sandals.

Might be an approach that you would want to look into.
Reply:Whoa i didnt know vegitarians couldnt wear leather well i say you should get custom shoes made it may cost more but if it saves an animal GO FOR IT! :)

Best shoes to use when playing handball?

Which handball?

If I were to be playing the one which constitutes hitting the ball off a wall like raquetball, then I would be in prison and would have prison issue shoes on. Not much choice there.

If it were Team Handball?

Well, then I would wear flippers as a goalie to give me more net coverage. If I was a forward, I would wear Flip-Flops, just like the sport itself. A FLOP!

Best shoes to use when playing handball?
If you mean just handball in general, I would recommend running shoes and wear socks with it too! When i play handball, that's what I usually wear. You just need some athletic shoes.
Reply:Squash Design makes a great Gum Soled Shoe, you can also get a discount by using code USHA at checkout. their site is squashdesignusa.com. Other than that court shoes work the best for handball.
Reply:the best kind of shoes for team handball is Adidas Stabil 6 or 7 s. u can search from yahoo images and see how good they look.
Reply:just get some old fashioned canvas chuck taylors. they may not be comfortable and may not enhance your performance, but they look sick
Reply:I think you should wear Nike or Adidas. A form of a basketball shoe because it's tight around your ankle which gives you more traction and sharpness.

Does anyone know what to use to paint your own shoes?

I painted my own shoes last summer but some of the paint came off. Does anyone know what type of paint i should use on my white nike all stars other than wall paint?

Does anyone know what to use to paint your own shoes?
Go for acrylic paints. They will surely stay on, people use them on lawn chairs, furniture, etc. You can get them at most art and craft stores. I don't know what paint you used last summer, but if the acrylic gets chippy, you can coat the shoes in some protective art gunk (em, I have no suggestions on this particular product, XD gunk is somewhat fitting) GOoD LuCk

New Running Shoes?

Currently I am about one month way from my first 5K race ever. So, obviously I am in the process of training. Right now i train in shoes that i have been using for a year and a half. I am very comfortable in these shoes, however they are getting in very bad shape. The soles are really starting to wear and tear and are getting very thin. I still am very comfortable running in these, and fell absolutely no pain in my legs or feet (except for the normal running soreness after hard workouts)even with the bad shape they are in. I am considering getting new shoes sometime. Should I get them now and train in them and use them for the 5K or should I continue to use my current shoes for another month and use them for the race. If it makes any difference, the shoes are ascis and I train on pavement and all of my races are on pavement.

New Running Shoes?
Go to a specialty running store- google "Specialty Running Store" and your state. They will watch you run and help determine what type of shoe you need- stability, cushioning, motion control. Do this right away! Get new shoes and start wearing them- once you have the CORRECT shoes and size, you can walk around in them a couple of days then get right out and run in them! Asics are terrific shoes! Remember- SPECIALTY running store, though- no large sporting goods stores!
Reply:The mistake that people make when they run a race is they use new shoes. Use your old shoes if you feel comfortable with then or train on your new shoes for they can lose up a little and for you can get comfortable with them. Just dont use your new shoes on the race because you need to use them first. Good Luck
Reply:First of all you should be getting new running shoes every two to three months... Second of all never run on worn out soles why?? because you dont want to be in the middle of the 5K and you get a hole... lastly i would say get the new Pearl Izumi Syncro Guide 2 very comfortable with outstanding Tech Specs and light weight
Reply:u should probabily use the old ones in the race...from time to time...u should train in the new shoes...but do not run the race in the new shoes...use the comfortable ones..

If you think that those are muddy on the inside, you obviously haven't met my son, Soccergod.

Throw them in the washer, set the machine on wash, add a few bathtowels and add 1/2 cup detergent. Let the the machine do the work, then air dry them. They'll be just fine, and clean to boot!
Reply:Wash them in the washer with Tide and Clorox bleach. I have washed my shoes that way for years and it doesn't damage the leather or dry it out. I just air dry them.
Reply:baking soda and peroxide scrubbed on with a soft brush, then rinse... or baking soda and peroxide toothpaste will work the same way, and whiten the white.

or oxi-clean, or vinegar and baking soda....

these bubbling solutions work well for cleaning mud out of fabrics because they release gases in the bubbles (peroxide releases oxygen and vinegar releases carbon dioxide) that break the dirt loose from the fabric.

:)

how to use a washing machine...select water temperature (cold)..select wash size (the smallest setting).. set dial to "wash"..... turn the washer on (you either pull out the dial or push the start button).... add detergent..... put shoes in.... close the lid

*take the shoe strings out first to get them the cleanest.

*air dry, don't put them in the drier
Reply:can you put them in the washing machine with some vinager and baking soda just wash them on gentle cycle they should be fine and all the mud should come out.

What can I use to clean leather tennis shoes besides shoe cleaner?

Is there any household product that I can use to clean white leather tennis shoes?

What can I use to clean leather tennis shoes besides shoe cleaner?
If they aren't too dirty, you can just use Dawn and hot water with a toothbrush or nail brush. If they are stained a little, add a small amount of bleach to a cup of water with some Dawn in it. I have always used these methods since my husband owns (and gets dirty) about 7 pairs of leather tennis shoes.
Reply:clean with detergent
Reply:COVER THEM IN SOCKS AND WASH THEM IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE WITH REGULAR WASHING SOAP. WORKS LIKE A CHARM.
Reply:Soda, try Coke. You don't want cheap store brand. Just pour it on and scrub it with a brush.
Reply:you can use warm water and soap however depending on how soiled the shoes are I wouldn't recommend going cheap like that. Also depending on what type of soil or dirt you have on the shoe is a factor because leather will sort of rot if you do wash the shoe. Just go out and buy some shoe cleaner; will save you a bunch of headaches in the long run.
Reply:Wet the napkin and put some detergent on the napkin. and clean with it. (I have leather shoes too)
Reply:two table spoons of mayo and two cups of vinegar. mix till mayo is liquid.
Reply:Try vinegar
Reply:Wash in the sink with liquid detergent (laundry or dish) using a soft brush inside and out. Spin dry in the washing machine. Dry in the sun.
Reply:Put your shoes inside wash machine on Gentle setting use regular detergerent as usually. If the shoe is white you can use white vinegar
Reply:Believe it or not, I wash mine in the washing machine. I let them 'soak' for a while with normal laundry soap. ('Liquid' is best.) I use the 'regular' cycle for a few minutes; then put it to 'gentle'. A LITTLE bit of bleach has never hurt them. I also add some old rags or a throw rug to keep them from getting 'scraped up'. (I one time put a pair in two old pillow cases; one shoe in each.) Use WARM water. Warm dryer ,or no dryer (the Sun is good...), and that's it! Unless the shoes are 'embellished' (I had a pair that had a holographic sort of thing...) they really SHOULD be O.K! SERIOUSLY!!! I've ALWAYS done this -with my shoes and my kids'! Just use COMMON SENSE...it's white leather you said, so be 'gentle'! :)
Reply:Bleach
Reply:Baby wipes are the best shoe cleaner around - try it!!!
Reply:If you have some saddle soap that will work and it will keep the leather soft.

In Japan people take off their shoes and wear slippers almost everywhere, don't their feet ever smell?

When at home they don't wear shoes or use socks or slippers. They even provide visitors these slippers. How often are they washed?

In Japan people take off their shoes and wear slippers almost everywhere, don't their feet ever smell?
It is a tradition in Japan. When I visited Tokyo,

my friend offered slippers and asked me to

leave my shoes at the main door. They do not

give their slippers to guests. Separate slippers

are kept for visitors which are vashed after the

visitors leave the house.

In traditional houses of India, no one is allowed

to come inside the house with any foot wear.

They have to leave them outside the main door

and wash their feet before entering the house.

The dust on the road is supposed to have psychic

or para-normal effect on babies and aged in

the house. Modern science says that there are more

germs in the dust on the road than in the mild dust

found in a sweeped room. This tradition is being

observed since millenia in India.
Reply:Actually, Japanese don't smell ever, usually.

The weather is moist in Japan, so they are accustomed to keep their bodies and houses clean and nicely dry always.
Reply:Well...I think that your feet began to smell because of the lack of circulating air around the feet so if I am correct wearing shoes would make them smell not going without.
Reply:the slippers are washed often, alot of households use throw away slippers.
Reply:They wear socks and sandals at home, the sandals aren't street shoes but just for in the house. I think it's a great idea not to track street dirt into your house. And the Japanese wash EVERYTHING. They'd never, ever give you a dirty pair of socks or slippers to put on. And what's your point anyway?

Can I use indelible ink to dye shoes?

The shoes are light brown leather and I need them to be black so I was wondering if I could use a black indelible marker to do this. I have looked for shoe dye to no avail

Can I use indelible ink to dye shoes?
No you can't it will look awful! Take the shoes to a repair shop they'll probably do it for you. At least that way they will be done properly and you'll be able to keep on wearing them.
Reply:There is dye available for this if you go to a decent shoe repair shop. Having said that, I have touched up my shoes using indelible ink - heels etc - but to do a pair of shoes it would be a bit like hard work
Reply:It would colour them, but you wouldn't get an even finish. You should have no problems getting black shoe dye. Woolworths, Tesco and most shoe shops sell it.
Reply:Thats funny. You should try it and then make a post about how it came out, cuz i been wondering bout that to.
Reply:No, don't!!!! My auntie needed the same thing, but my auntie just used shoe polish. No-one new they where light-brown. It will definatley work, and its probably a lot cheaper. =]
Reply:i have filled in scuffs and scratches on boots with permanent marker and it does leave a purplish shine, its ok on the odd scuff, but i dont reckon it'd look that good on a whole shoe. however Dylon make dyes for leather - i havent used it myself but was asking someone about it and this was their answer

I USED DYLON FOR SHOES, BUT THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT ONES.ONE OF THEM LEAVES THE LEATHER IN A SHORT OF LIGHT MATTE COLOUR I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH, THEN I USED ANOTHER DYLON PRODUCT FOR SHOES WICH LET THEM IN REALLY BLACK WITH A BIT OF SHINE, THEY LOOKED LIKE THEY CAME FROM THE SHOP.

IT IS CALLED “DYLON SHOE %26amp; ACCESSORIES COLOUR.

i am planning to try this on a pair of pale leather boots, i would definetely not recommend using permanent marker pen.
Reply:No, it will give off a puplish kind of sheen, not really black at all.. it will look really bad. If you Google shoe dye you will find places online to order it. However, if you need a quick fix, I have actually used Rustoleum spray paint in a pinch one time and it was okay. But that was something I did for a one time event. I don't know that I would have worn those shoes over and over again after that.
Reply:Ha,ha,ha.Would luv to see the results.Go for it!

they have some in the dollar storee or find a stor that sells them like walmart. if it doesn't work on your shoes then you could iron them on your jeans or shirt. i think they are called patches

I am going to buy burberry shoes.but I can't decide which one is better.high heel or ballerina?
You know, I was gonna tell you to get the heels before I even saw the photos.

But now that I saw them, I say you get the flats. They look much better than the heels, plus this way it's something you could wear often, and feel comfortable in.

Unless you're the kind of girl that tends to wear heels on a daily basis, then I'd go for the pumps.
Reply:Go with the flats! The high heels look too trendy while the flats look understated and cute.
Reply:I personally do not like either, because I do not like the print on them. If want to find a good pair of expensive/designer flats I totally recommend the ones from Salvatore Ferragamo. There is this one style, starts with a "V". Its like plain colors and it has a velvet bow in the front. If you get black, it would totally go with more than the Burberry ones.

Just something to think about (:
Reply:flats
Reply:i like the black ballerina flats!
Reply:If you check out the link below you'll see that there are a ton of other Burberry shoe options too. Some of them are really casual (like open-toe sandals, for instance) so I think if you really like Burberry, you could find a shoe for every occasion. It just depends on your taste, I guess. :)
Reply:when i first saw your question i was going to aswer definitely the heels but until i saw that pics definitely the flats!!! the black ones are the cutest. or maybe you can find wedges that are just one color or 2.
Reply:I would personally go with the high heels, because heels can look very professional, more mature, and sexy. Plus, they make me taller. :-p

I would also wear them as often as possible. Might as well get your money's worth out of them, right? I wouldn't wear them to Walmart or on a rainy day, but if I were going to work, out to dinner, out with friends, etc. I would be wearing them all the time!

What are good shoes to have when playing hacky sack?

What are some good shoes to use when playing hacky sack? Please help.

What are good shoes to have when playing hacky sack?
Light sorta high top boots or sneakers. Lots of room for the thing to land on, broad side for you to hit with. If you prefer speed and are pretty good, go with some good sneakers that are comfortable with a little bit of a curve inward from the toe to the middle, then curve back out toward the heel, so you have a little scoop to launch the ball with
Reply:So here are a few tips for finding hackysack shoes:

For shoes to be footbagging in, there are some general qualities that you should be looking out for:

* Flat surfaces

* Lightweight

The second point is particularly important because heavy shoes put unnecessary stress on your knees and ankles. Some people even play barefoot because you can move your feet faster and there is less strain on your knees

For a long time the best footbagging shoes were the Rod Lavers made by Adidas,

They have particularly good inside and toe surfaces while being an exceptionally lightweight shoe. The toe area needs a slight modification for ideal performance. Lavers are available at the world footbag website www.worldfootbag.com.

A tutorial for modifying Lavers for footbag is available at http://www.footbagclub.com

The Quantum footbag shoe is made specifically for playing footbag. Made by Planetfootbag, Quantum's are considered to be some of the best shoes around, and are constantly being improved upon. More information can be found at the Freedom Footbags webpage (www.freedomfootbags.com).

Value for money wise, the Rod Lavers are probably the best shoes out there for the casual hacker. They also have good durability.

Ok, I have started a daily walking regimen but when I walk on the concrete sidewalks my lower legs start to ache. When I walk on the soft track at the school I don't have this problem. Since the track is not always available and walking through town is a lot less boring I was wondering if there is any special type of shoes to use for walking on concrete?

Not the shoes; the inserts.

Go to Walmart and buy Dr. Scholls shoe inserts for construciton workers. Green and brown.

I wish to take my plain shoes and add some of my own designs to them. I want to do something similar to this: http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l72/Mi...

I would of course use my own pictures.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good paints or decal tranfers that bend with the shoe.

What can I use to put designs on shoes?
sharpie
Reply:I usually use fabric paint
Reply:there is some material pics they use for jeans and all you do is iron them on they would properly work you could try it.

they have some in the dollar storee or find a stor that sells them like walmart. if it doesn't work on your shoes then you could iron them on your jeans or shirt. i think they are called patches
Reply:Instead, if it's pictures that you need to provide use a program like Photoshop or use simple (Microsoft) Word and import a picture of shoes...then overlay that picture with a .gif...(making the background transparent) and your shoes can come out looking like these but your own design? I'm thinking thats what you're trying to do, right? Is this a project?

How many people throw away clothes or shoes they don't use anymore?

I'm doing a speech on why we should donate clothing and shoes we no longer use to the less fortunate and have to back it up with facts.

How many people throw away clothes or shoes they don't use anymore?
The average consumer spends way more than he/she needs to on items that are not used until they wear out. So, we are thus a society of wastefulness. I recycle things. I don't have good luck with garage sales (I live on the wrong side of the tracks and no one comes) but I do donate to the homeless shelter, the spouse abuse center, and Goodwill where they train people in the consumer market. Hope this helps. Reader's Digest has good articles about such things as well.
Reply:I usually donate old clothes and shoes to the "Salvation Army or Goodwill Industry". It's a tax write-off.
Reply:whae I am done with my clothing they are not worth waring anymore. I mean they are really worn out. But if you want them you can have them.
Reply:i throw them away. i have no car and it is too hard for me to take them by bus as i am in a wheelchair
Reply:yahoo offers a really great group site called Freecycle and they have them for mostly all city's around the world people but in search ofs and post what they have to give away free. i have seen a lot of people trying to give away cloths and stuff on there and shoes even you might want to put that in your report.
Reply:I donate stuff that's still good, or if it's not, I sort by color and use it to make quilts. I usually don't donate shoes bebause I save them to garden in so they are really abused.
Reply:I do...I'm too lazy to drive to a donation site. I feel bad about it, but haven't changed my habits.

P.S. I am a shoe lover, so never throw those away, they are always worn out or a strap broken before they get thrown away.
Reply:i always donate my clothes, i think if I'm not gonna wear them anymore ill give them to someone less fortunate than me.
Reply:I tend to wear my clothes until they are worn. But I have had some pairs of sneakers that I ordered online and found did not fit or feel right. I gave 1 pair to my father and the other one I gave to a regular customer where I use to work. He was polite so he got them.

I have read in one book (adventure capitalist) that a guy was in Africa and found alot of those clothes we donate to churches to be sent to the poor in africa usualy end up going to a market. He claimed the boxes of clothes will be brought to a port where they are unloaded and people scramble to take boxes of clothes to sell in markets.

I recommend that if you are going to donate your clothes, first see if anyone you know wants them. Whatever is left you can give to local homeless people on the street if they want it and to homeless shelters. Atleast you know the clothes will go to people who need it and not to some guy out to make a buck.
Reply:My family usually donates all our uneeded stuff...people should donate more, since the people who are less fortunate are as well humans...people who don't donate should, unless they're to selfish or LAZY
Reply:i don't i donate them
Reply:I throw them away, most of the time, because my family and I use them to death and I don't think even a homeless person would want them?
Reply:As long as the clothes are in reasonable condition, I always give them to the charity shops. Otherwise I recycle them.
Reply:We usually donate them
Reply:I donate the clothes and shoes that still look nice and could be worn by someone else. Normally, I donate to a local women's shelter or Goodwill. The ones that are stained or torn either go in the garbage or become rags for cleaning. I try to get as much use as possible out of my things.

I also donate things like old dishes or toys that I do not use, but still loOK ok and could be used by someone else. I have been doing this for the past ten years.
Reply:Depending on how good or bad i have a yard sale, or donate. rarely do I throw away but I have.
Reply:I take my families unwanted/outgrown clothing and shoes to our school. We have plenty of families in our own community that need them. I would imagine alot of people just throw things away, it's a shame, when they could be put to good use.
Reply:i donate.
Reply:Umm underwear and bras yea. I don't think anybody wants those. haha. but all my old junk goes to Sal-Val or yards sales. :)
Reply:we donate still good clothes and shoes but not personal items like underwear
Reply:Sometimes close are so worn that they are not donation worthy. Shoes also.

I believe that more people would donate their clothing if they knew more about places to donate and take them to.

Can you put arch supports inside dance shoes?

ALL dance shoes? Even Pointe shoes an those shoes they use for Irish step dancing?? My Doc just told me that I have low arches and I'll be tearing my body up if I don't wear arch supports. Will having low arches and wearing arch supports hinder my dancing?? Will i be able to without tearing myself up?? Are there ways that dancers can "fix" low arches?? I hear them talk about arches from time to time, but I wasn't even thinking about my arches then so i didn't listen.

Help? Advice? I'm going to ask my doctor about it next time i see him (which is soon), but i was wondering what the dancers do in a situation like that. :)

Can you put arch supports inside dance shoes?
You have the arch in your foot that you are born with, and dancing will only make that arch stronger, which should be a good thing. A low arch, is different from an inflexible arch. It could mean that your feet are "too flexible." You can wear your arch supports in tap, and character shoes, but not in soft shoes. You should see a physical therapist who deals with athletes, and learn how to "wrap" your arch properly, with athletic tape, to support your arches. If you try this yourself, you will probably just cut off the circulation in your feet. You MUST use FLEXIBLE athletic tape, which is usually flesh colored, as opposed to the white tape used to wrap ankles, etc.

As for pointe shoes just choose one with a very strong shank. You may be able to order a double shank shoe. You should ask your ballet teacher for advice on pointe shoes.
Reply:I don't think it would hinder you.

But if you're uneasy about it, you might be able to glue the arc so that it won't move too much.

Hope it helps.
Reply:Not in the pointe shoe - I used to tie the ribbon around the arch and then around the ankle. You can however use them in all the other shoes - even soft ballet shoes.

I never glued them - I used the same arch supports for all of my shoes. Make sure that outside of dance you are using good arch supporting shoes. Don't wear alot of dress shoes or other shoes that don't have an arch support. I know that it is stylish to wear boots and clogs etc. but you will have to put those away for a while.

I had the same problem it wasn't the most comfortable thing at first but after time you get used to it.
Reply:You can put arch supports into Irish step shoes, tap shoes, and jazz sneakers by gluing them on the inside. Ballet slippers, pointe shoes, and jazz slippers you can't; it would hinder your ability to point your feet. One way to fix low arches is to wear strong podiatric arch supports (NOT gel ones). You will also have to wear tennis shoes more often instead of ballet flats and boots (I know it's hard) to strengthen your arches.
Reply:In almost all types of dance, you have to point your feet. Arch supports won't let you do that, so I wouldn't recommend putting them in your dance shoes, ESPECIALLY ballet shoes (flat and pointe). Low arches aren't ideal for dance, and you can't hope to go far in the ballet world with them, but you can still go far in some other types of dance. You can't fix low arches because of the fact that you can't change your bone structure. However, you can make them a little better by stretching your feet and using a Theraband to strengthen them. The majority of the population has low arches, and their bodies don't get 'torn up' so I'm sure you'll survive.
Reply:You could easily put the arch supports into the Heavy Jig shoes. It could probably be done with the ghillies, too. Just superglue them in.

I don't know how to fix a low arch. That's something you are born with - you'll just have to work around it.

i dress preppy and I'm having a hard time finding new shoes. I use to like skater shoes but now i want something new.

Reply:flip flops, or just some regular shoes that aren't tennis shoes. like schetchers casual shoes or something.
Reply:Ballerina flats. But if you want to try and wear some heels try a Mary Jane type of shoe.
Reply:get some flats from target if you want to save money

I want to decorate a pair of white canvas shoes. What should I use to design them so it will not wear off?

I recently bought pastels made for fabric. I have used this on a t-shirt, and it stayed however it was hard to draw clearly. Would Sharpie's be a good idea and would the ink stay on the shoe?

I want to decorate a pair of white canvas shoes. What should I use to design them so it will not wear off?
Draw the design on with a pencil. Then, get fabric paint like puff paint, in tubes to draw over the pencil lines. Then use acrylic paint to fill in those areas after the outlines dry. You can use fabric glue or fabric paint to fix bling things to your shoes, also.

wat ever works really
Reply:paint or clothes marker pens
Reply:use acrylic or textile paints
Reply:They make markers that are designed for use on fabric. They should be easier and stay on well. Your local fabric store (such as Joann's) would have them as well as Michael's and the like may carry them. You can also buy them online (possibly cheaper than in person). Good luck.
Reply:most defiantly sharpies. its like duct tape... they do anything!!!

Reply:caryloa makes colorful fabric markers that have a tip almost like sharpie and they dont wash off
Reply:I once glued buttons all over a pair of shoes. Learn from my mistake:

Use the right kind of glue for the job! As I walked, buttons popped off and went everywhere! My cute shoes became an embarrassment :(

But it can be done right! Aleenes makes every kind of glue you can imagine.

I presently have Knee pain, Will it cause me consequences later if I continue wearing Heel shoes?

I didn't had knee pain for a while. I wonder if using heel shoe all day -8hrs. is causing it again. Will it cause me consequences later as i get older?

I presently have Knee pain, Will it cause me consequences later if I continue wearing Heel shoes?
knee pain has many causes.it could be rheumatism, overweight, high level of uric acid, age.

wearing shoes with 2in.heel and above especially if you are standing most of the time could affect your knee.

i usually wear shoes with 1 to 1 1/2 in.heel and it helps, but still if i stand too long and walked for some distance,my knees also hurt.so,i learned not to overdo it.
Reply:It is known that wearing heels is not good for your knees but I'm not sure exactly what the long term effects are. If it is already hurting that can't be good. On your days off wear sneakers and try to only wear heels a couple days per week, flats look nice too and sandal season will be in soon so you can give them a try too. If the pain doesn't go away it is best to see your doctor to get checked out and see what's going on down there.
Reply:Quite probably. I presume you mean high-heeled shoes. Combine these with shoes that have any tendency to pointiness and you are highly likely to get painful bunions too. The high heel forces your foot towards the toe of the shoe and the taper causes your toes to turn inward.

Change to flattish shoes with a wider fitting for more comfort. In fact always buy shoes for comfort first, and fashion second, especially if you want to avoid foot, hip, knee and posture problems in old-age (or even earlier).

BTW - this applies to MEN as well
Reply:if you wear heels alot not only are you doing damage to your knees but you are also doing damage to your lumbar spine... heels may look good on but they are not worth the future consequences...
Reply:it depends on what is the cause for the knee pain. it could be the high heels or the height of the heel. do u have flat feet? is it just your knee or do u get shin pain also? if so then it might be because you have flat feet. or you may just need to stretch out your hamstrings and shin muscles
Reply:It might. If I were u, I would't wear them as much!!!
Reply:Probably. I cannot wear high heels. I did when I was younger! But now I have flat feet and knee and ankle problems. So I try to get the lower heels maybe anything less than 2 inches would help.
Reply:I wear heels every day at least eight hours a day. You may want to talk to a podiatrist though. Mine told me that flip flops are the best kind of shoes to wear. So if I'm not at work, flip flops it is!

4-year-old insists on wearing shoes at all times?

My son insist on having his shoes on all the time. If I take them off he cries until I put them back on. He even wants to sleep in them though I got him to wear slippers at night instead of real shoes. I use to have to take off white he was sleeping before because I could not stand the thought of his wearing them 24 hours a day. During the day he will not wear the slippers, but wants his tennis shoes or lace up boots on.

4-year-old insists on wearing shoes at all times?
I think it's cute. No big deal, just him demonstrating his unique personality. I think you are handling it with creativity ie: the slippers at night. Take a picture, someday it will make him and you both laugh.
Reply:Let him wear them. He'll get tired of it eventually, and it's not hurting him.
Reply:It's nothing to worry about. Many children go through these phases and eventually he will grow out of it. In the meantime, it's not going to hurt anything to let him wear the shoes. The bigger deal you make of it...the longer the phase will last.
Reply:has this been going on for a long time? most kids do go through phases like that - i had this red denim mini skirt that i refused to take off for a good 3 months! he'll outgrow it.
Reply:Let him wear em 24 hours a day...Kids go through really wierd phases sometimes. For the past week my son has insisted on wearing long sleeved shirts. It is the middle of summer and he plays outside all day. Screw it..LoL, I make sure he isn't too hot and I'm giving him plenty of refills on his ice water so he is fine.
Reply:It is just a phase, probably a security thing to him. Don't panic, he will get over it.

What are substitutes for leather I could use when getting shoes?

I feel really bad wearing leather, but I've never found boots or good, sturdy shoes without leather. Help!

What are substitutes for leather I could use when getting shoes?
That's great you're interested in leather alternatives. This site has a list of companies that offer non-leather shoes and other non-leather products: http://www.peta.org/living/alt2.asp

Good luck!
Reply:The good thing about non-leather shoes is they're inexpensive so you can keep up with the trends, and by time they wear out- the trend is probably over anyway. :)

Reply:There are plenty of alternatives. Pleather being on of them. www.zappos.com sells vegetarian shoes.
Reply:Vinyl shoes are awesome! Converse are awesome too, and skimmers - a lot of cloth shoes are really in style right now so you're in luck. They have lots of non-leather shoes at hottopic.com - they specify "man made materials" in the item description. You can also get some plastic stripper heels lol (strippers wear plastic shoes because it's more comfortable on stage).
