Question about the rolling shoes (safety, price and place to find it) ?

I'm french and I live in your country for 6 month. I'll go back to France in two weeks and I would like to do a gift for my nieces. I have seen some children with rolling shoes (little wheels underneath the shoes but it can also be used as normal shoes).


I would like to know if it's safe or dangerous, the price of this kind of shoes and where I could find it in London ?

I'm not sure where to buy in London. I have though seen a few articles regarding safety issues. The danger issue depends on who you ask. There seems to be a consensus with doctors who are concerned about a rise in the risk of injuries due to falling.





By the way, the shoes are called "Heelys".
Reply:You're probably referring to heely's theyre a skate shoe which have a wheel in the heel of the shoe. I have heard that kids have been able to fall over and not been able to stop them. Ive heard that leg muscles dont benefit from the rolling instead of walking properly. Its up to you, they are a toy and seem very fun but I dont think they should be used in public spaces and near busy roads.

these rolly shoes r called heelys and yes they are fun and will make the perfect gift, u can find them in shoe stores, and at sporting goods stores...


they r safe.


people say they r dangerous, b/c they dont want to risk injuries (even if none hav been recorded YET!!)


but i ensure u, they r great!


they run from 60-90 dollars (depending on size and type)

Reply:Not safe at all there was a boy with them on this clothes store i was in and he fell split his chin and broke his arm he had to be rushed to hospital!! :-D


Don't buy them there are really dangerous and not worth the money!!

Reply:I work in retail and we've always got kids rolling around in those things. They're really dangerous, we had a little girl yesterday fall and bust her forehead open. I mean, I'm sure they're just as dangerous as anything else that rolls, but I know that most people are completely annoyed by the kids who roll around in them all the time...
