We moved from Hawaii a year ago and my eight year old daughter enrolled in private school. The school has a strict dress code and requires girls to wear dress shoes (patent mary janes or penny loafers). My daughter's teacher tells me she's constantly taking her shoes off in class. My daughter says the shoes cramp her feet, but I double checked the shoes and they're the right size. I think she's just not used to wearing dress shoes, after being barefoot most of the time in Hawaii. How can I get my daughter used to dress shoes?
How can I get my daughter to keep her shoes on?
I would go with your daughter on this one. Have her keep them on at school when not sitting at her desk. If she slips them off at her desk, so what.
She will come around on her own.

Reply:Aha you should tell her that there is a spider or some kind of animal that will eat her foot if she doesnt wear her shoes and maybe she will keep them on. Lol but seriously. Try it
Reply:Ok, mom, I am glad you are concerned with your daughter's comfort. However, and this is big, why are you more concerned with the teacher's comfort? Provided your daughter doesn't have horrible foot odor, she prefers being barefoot. I am a 46 year old professional and dress the part. I still kick my shoes off under the desk. Who is she hurting? Let your daughter be herself. She will love you for it.
Reply:that's a touch question.just try to make her realize and show her that all people in the USA wear shoes and she has too also.good luck to you.
Reply:Find her comfortable shoes. Let her know that when she is at home she doesn't have to wear shoes. Or change schools that doesn't require such uncomfortable shoes.
Reply:Try buying a stylish pair to wear outside of school, so when you go out, she will want to wear her new cool shoes, and by doing so, will get used to wearing shoes. Good luck!
Reply:Duct tape
