4-year-old insists on wearing shoes at all times?

My son insist on having his shoes on all the time. If I take them off he cries until I put them back on. He even wants to sleep in them though I got him to wear slippers at night instead of real shoes. I use to have to take off white he was sleeping before because I could not stand the thought of his wearing them 24 hours a day. During the day he will not wear the slippers, but wants his tennis shoes or lace up boots on.

I think it's cute. No big deal, just him demonstrating his unique personality. I think you are handling it with creativity ie: the slippers at night. Take a picture, someday it will make him and you both laugh.
Reply:Let him wear them. He'll get tired of it eventually, and it's not hurting him.
Reply:It's nothing to worry about. Many children go through these phases and eventually he will grow out of it. In the meantime, it's not going to hurt anything to let him wear the shoes. The bigger deal you make of it...the longer the phase will last.
Reply:has this been going on for a long time? most kids do go through phases like that - i had this red denim mini skirt that i refused to take off for a good 3 months! he'll outgrow it.
Reply:Let him wear em 24 hours a day...Kids go through really wierd phases sometimes. For the past week my son has insisted on wearing long sleeved shirts. It is the middle of summer and he plays outside all day. Screw it..LoL, I make sure he isn't too hot and I'm giving him plenty of refills on his ice water so he is fine.
Reply:It is just a phase, probably a security thing to him. Don't panic, he will get over it.
